BAND BIOGRAPHY
Mel and Matt have been making music together since 2009 — starting out in a five-piece rock cover band before finding their groove as a duo, spending 13 years playing weddings, functions, pubs and parties right across Gippsland.
Along the way Matt added something a little unusual to the setup: a farmer foot drum that lets him drive a full rhythm section beat alongside his guitar. It’s part of what gives AlgoRhythm their distinctive sound — the energy of a full band from a small, tight lineup.
In 2022 they crossed paths with Nathan, a bass player who cut his teeth in the punk scene in Fremantle, and the trio was complete. Nathan’s driving basslines are what take the floor from tapping feet to full send — the piece that transforms a great duo into a genuine dance band.
Between them, Mel, Matt and Nathan have performed at more than 200 weddings and functions. They’re locals, they love what they do, and after all these years together on stage it shows.
